SUMMARY:
The Accountant creates accurate and timely financial records for the organization. Prepares and records asset, liability, revenue, and expense entries by compiling and analyzing account information. Maintains and balances subsidiary accounts by verifying, allocating, posting, and reconciling transactions and resolving discrepancies.

  • Directly reports to the Senior Vice President of Human Resources North America

JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Maintains financial records and ensures that financial transactions are properly recorded.
  • Ensures the accuracy of entries to ledger accounts and reconciles subsidiary ledger accounts to the general ledger.
  • Prepares balance sheets, profit and loss statements and other financial reports.
  • Analyzes current costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations incurred to predict future revenues and expenses.
  • Prepares monthly consolidated account analysis and commentary.
  • Maintains details of fixed asset subsidiary schedules and reconcile same to G/L monthly.
  • Prepares monthly bank and sub-ledger reconciliation (i.e. AR, AP, FA, etc.) reconciliations and reports.
  • Prepares monthly reconciliation of Inter Company balances with affiliates.
  • Performs compilation of annual budget and monthly forecast package and commentary.
  • Maintains accruals and prepaid balances.
  • Maintains capital lease schedules and payments.
  • Assists management in preparation/consolidation of annual budget package.
  • Coordinates annual physical inventories of fixed assets and recording of necessary adjusting entries
  • Prepares documentation for external and internal auditors' review.
  • Provides assistance to business units management and personnel, clarifies financial reports and transactions.
  • Adheres to internal standards, policies and procedures.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Required:
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, or Finance, or in a related discipline
3-5 years of progressive experience and responsibilities in accounting principles and practices

Preferred:
Oracle and Hyperion experience

LICENCES/CERTIFICATIONS:
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred.
Language Skills: English - intermediate proficiency required, French/Spanish preferred
Mathematical Skills: Basic level of knowledge required
Reasoning Skills/Abilities: Advanced level required
Computer Skills:
Excel - expert level skills required (ability to perform VLOOKUP and Pivot)
MS Word and PowerPoint - intermediate user proficiency required
Oracle and Hyperion experience preferred

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
